Sandy introduces ON POINT...

My name is Sandy Asper and at one time I was a teacher for kind of a lifetime. After I retired from Newport-Mesa Unified School District, I thrashed around deciding what I wanted to do when I grew up. For good or ill that hasn't happened yet, but after Bruce and I drove an RV across the country we traveled with Rick and Carol, I ran for the Newport-Mesa Board of Education and lost, wrote an autobiography, published some books on Amazon, a funny thing happened. The editor of The Newport Beach Patch called and asked if I would like to write a column a week about education. Would I???!!

So I spent two years writing some investigative and critical columns and some nice ones as well about the school district and education in general. I published two books with those weekly columns called Just Sayin and Just Sayin Part Deux which featured a seven year old very flattering photo of me. I have written commentary for the Daily Pilot and now write an occasional column for The Orange County Register/The Current.

Because I know people have a short attention span....I have a short attention span also, I thought it might be fun to do short interviews on a new website called ON POINT with interesting people around Newport and Costa Mesa. Some informative, some just fun and funny....hope you like it.
